Welcome Out Of The Box Toy Library Members

A huge welcome to our new members from Out Of The Box Toy Library – Long Gully! Thank you for your patience over the last term, as Out of the Box has been in a season of change.

We’ve very pleased to be amalgamating the two libraries, giving members from both libraries more open hours and more access to toys.

The Long Gully Campus will reopen it’s doors on Monday 7 May, and will run as previous; Mondays 9.30 am – 11:00 am and Friday 9.30 am – 11:00 am.

Policies and procedures will come in line with Spring Gully BCTL. the main items to note are;

  • Helmet waiver- ride on toys do not come with helmets. It is the carer’s responsibility to provide a helmet for your child. We will ask you to sign a document stating this, and it will be kept on file along with your membership papers.
  • Missing Pieces- we charge $2 per missing piece, returnable when you return the missing piece. This is to encourage everyone to return pieces, but also to provide some income if pieces need to be replaced.
  • Late Fees- $2 per week per item is charged for late toys, capped at $10. This is solely to encourage everyone to bring back their toys! Toys can be renewed for a further 3 weeks, either by signing into your mibase account, or emailing toys@bendigotoylibrary.org.au.

As well as being open Monday and Friday, your membership gives you access to use the Spring Gully Campus. Open Tuesdays 9.30 am – 11:00 am, Thursday 9.30 am – 11:00 am and Saturday 9.30 am – 11:30 am, Spring Gully houses over 1000 toys, including Party Packs – these are large packs of toys designed to borrowed for events, such as large play dates or birthday parties. They are $10 for one week, bookings can be made either online or at either toy library campus, due to storage space they are available for pick up from Spring Gully campus only.

Help Needed – We desperately need help running Monday and Friday sessions. We would like 3 volunteers for each day; meaning each person would open the library for borrowing once every 3 weeks. Bring your children with you and let them play while you assist others in borrowing and returning toys. It’s a two hour commitment- (1.5 hours open time plus 15min either side for set up and pack up). You don’t have to join the committee, you don’t have to attend meetings (but if you want to you’d be very welcome!) If you think you could help out, we’d love to hear from you. Please email me at toys@bendigotoylibrary.org.au

Each existing Out of The Box memberships are current and have been brought across to Bendigo Community Toy Library. You can visit Spring Gully campus at any time, otherwise we look forward to meeting you at Bendigo Community Toy Library, Long Gully campus on Monday 7 May! Don’t forget to follow ‘Bendigo Community Toy Library’ on FaceBook to be kept up with all details.

Happy Playing,
Brooke Bennett
